How Social Media Kills Creativity
Feb 10, 2025
PSYCHOLOGY
We live in a world that celebrates creativity — but quietly kills it.
Social media was meant to be a platform for expression, but somewhere along the line, it became a comparison trap. You log in for inspiration and leave feeling like you're behind. You see polished, edited perfection everywhere — and your raw ideas suddenly feel worthless.
Instead of thinking freely, we scroll endlessly. Our brain gets overloaded with other people’s ideas, trends, and aesthetics. We start creating for the algorithm, not for ourselves. Likes replace originality. Virality replaces authenticity.
True creativity needs boredom, silence, and space to be weird.
But social media demands constant performance, constant visibility. It makes you rush your process, doubt your instincts, and seek validation too early.
If you feel creatively stuck, maybe it’s not you — maybe it’s your feed.
Log out. Breathe. Think. Create.
Sometimes the best ideas are born away from the screen.
